I always felt like Apocalypse Now was better than them two shiits. Brando is the reason why Godfather has become so iconic today.

They wanted DeNiro for the sonny role..but according to coppola he was way too aggressive for that role

It's not personal...it's business. That's one of the immortal quotes from the movie and that's Pacino. But the reason it resonates so much with most, or at least to me, is because of Michael's journey. Looking at the transformation he makes from the first half of the first movie to the rest of the trilogy is incredible for so many different reasons. It's an iconic movie for many different reasons but it's an iconic TWO movies on the shoulders of one guy really and that's Pacino. He does all the heavy lifting in both movies

Part 1 and 2 are definitely top tier but I wouldn't say they are THE pinnacle of motion pictures and no other film since reached that level.
