As long as Atlanta is the dominant sound, Drake will continue to win

He does ATL trap better than anyone else. Instead of getting furio, really think about what I'm saying here. Drake does Atlanta trap better than anyone from Atlanta. Maybe ever. You know this is true.

To control hip hop you have to control the sonic landscape. Basically, that means you need to consistently have the most dominant producers and execute well enough on those songs. Jay-Z started to dominate because he had access to the most dominant producers (Timbaland, Neptunes, Kanye, Dre, etc) and always got the best shyt from them. Whatever the dominant sound was, Jay-Z got the best of that sound. Drake is doing the exact same shyt.

"Sneakin" is a perfect example. It's easily one of the best beats London On the Track has ever made (even if it sounds like a Metro Boomin bite, but that's another topic). SirBiatch is calling it. Just like I called "Waybach" being Gucci's best track on his new came-and-went album before Gucci fans even knew it. Just like I said "Serve The Base" is Metro Boomin's best ever beat and Future's best ever song before Future stans figured it out. Great shyt just speaks for itself. Drake made Metro Boomin in demand (Metro Boomin worked with OVO before What a Time to Be Alive - look it up).

Part of why ASAP Rocky was the perfect alternative to Drake is that Rocky's sound is mostly Memphis meets Houston meets New York. In other words, he stayed away from that Atlanta shyt while being current. And you saw how quickly Rocky rose. But some of y'all slept and most were jealous, instead of congratulating the breh and getting on your j-o-b. :yeshrug:

So if you or your homie wants to outdo Drake, forget about ATL. Do not think for a sec that you can be bigger than Drake while doing ATL shyt. It just won't work :laff:

You have two options: either know yourself or kill yourself. In the immortal words of Drake, "I don't need love - I'm the GOAT" :whew:
He'll just move to whats popping next breh, Drake came in the game rapping like he was from Houstan

true. but Atlanta has been special for him. Notice he's had the game in an absolute chokehold since hopping on Atlanta shyt.

I'd argue it's because ATL trap is poppy as fukk inherently. Going back to Jeezy days. Radio jingle, simple simon shyt. That's the appeal of it. It's no surprise that a pop star came through and ran/still runs shyt.

Okay so I ignored the Sneakin' track because I don't like Savage but I just listened and :ehh: that beat is nice. Hoping Drake has more shyt like that on the album.
Good thread.

Nah drake is just really good at finessing his way into certain sounds

But aint no fukking he can make a song as cold as fukk up some commas or March madness

He can make a song here & there on that trap shyt but he will sound cheesy ass hell the more he does trap music he does especially by himself

Sneakin' isn't even close to London's best beat and pales in comparison to his more "out there" or melodic stuff. His best work is with Rich Gang or Thug solo. Drake does nothing interesting on it either. The only reason this is even getting play is because of the Drake brand. It's a pretty safe track all things considered.
