Kendrick and JID are just Lil Wayne’s kids. They don’t sound that much alike to me

Lol nah Kendrick separated himself from Wayne at this point.

He’s crafted legitimate hip hop classics that will stand the test of time. He’s heavily influenced by Wayne especially when he was K Dot but there’s not much similarities between them in 2023.

I'm going to keep it a leaf...

The issue with Cordae is that he comes off like "that guy". The type that talks shyt while his own crew looks at him like a cornball. The type that calls his girl "big head" and does corny shyt in public with her. The type that never really been through shyt, but got a lot to say about shyt.

Lets go into a deeper perspective:

  1. J-Cole- Dude is a average breh trying to make it in the game. A beat maker, singer, and rapper that so happens to be in the weirdest of situations (feds coming in because the neighbors thought he was selling dope). Makes good amount of money, but dresses like the hood Doug Funnie. Instant cult following because of such things :ehh:
  2. Big Krit- Mississippi born and raised. Old soul with a new focus. Managed to mix the southern style with a east coast introspective. Just an all around laid back rapper that stay true to his roots.

What Cordae has that these dudes haven't given to the game? A diss record to Coli brehs because his age bracket can't do shyt, but follow the leader of millennials and gen x rappers? Spit those rappity raps but not saying shyt? Being known as the dude that got the bag in most folks eyes (got the hottest chick in the game preggers and in like flinn with the blessings).?

Dude will never meet the standards of the GOATs, never meet the standards of present day slept on artists, and will never meet the hype of the rappers of the future:

I'm sorry, but cold world :yeshrug:. Some rappers will never make it.

how?

never heard Cordae played on repeat anywhere. he's recognized not forced

there's no longer artist development and rappers learn on the job. Cordae has the same rough things about him Cole did. Cole took a long ass time to make decent albums. Like Cordae he can kill features and verses but had to develop better bodies of work. these dudes don't lack a story they just don't have a contrived one that appeals to the values people have come to look for in rap... how real you are, went thru a struggle, feared/respected where you come from etc etc.

if you wanna be discounted and hated in rap the worst thing you can be is a regular ass person.
Bullshyt, he just doesn't know how to make the regular stuff sound interesting yet :camby: I've BEEN tired of hearing the same come up from the streets narrative myself, but I'm not gonna grade nikkas on a curve just for having a different background :francis: he still has to make the shyt sound interesting, perspective is everything especially when we're talking about writing in rap, he just hasn't figured it out yet

And if I recall correctly J Cole will/still to this day will get called out when he puts on bland stuff so people saying this about Cordae is par the course if you're comparing their careers

Great write up. I agree

Not to mention artists like Carti, Uzi, Kodak, Trippie - not in the same lane as Cordae but have all built massive fan bases and make infinitely better music than Cordae. They have also all released multiple albums. Cordae put out one shyt one….. They might not be your classic “spitters” or MCs but they know how to make dope modern hip hop records.

This new single with AP is legitimately boring as fukk. Like there’s absolutely no life in the bars or the record and it’s actually a nice beat.

I can't take nobody with that hairstyle seriously.

He can rap but he's an obvious cornball and he profusely uses the Nword (in the few songs I've listened to) to give the illusion that he has an edge or to come off as "street".

I can see right through it.

Neck ties and boxing gloves.
He has nothing to rap about

he was just a normal under the radar kid who played video games

so he be trying to rap those “real life” raps , but he really can’t give much perspective lol
Coming from a Drake fan.

Anyway, he'll manage. I dont really care but as a thirty six year old, I dont think I'm his target audience.

Cordae kinda just raps to rap.

Like most have already said, he's got zero personality and no charisma. There are no bars that are all that impressive. It's just a bunch of rapping for the sport of it. But you don't necessarily walk away from his sh*t wowed by any of it. He's basically a Cole understudy, but without the flow and variety. They both sound like they spend a lot of time practicing in the mirror, but you can tell that emceeing just doesn't come natural for them. Too stale and dry to stand out.

I have a hard time listening to rappers with lisps. I feel the same way about Boogie too. Is that a fukked up thing to say?
:manny:

IDK, but it is what it is.

:russell: Gave him another chance. This kid legit sucks

Some of the most boring and basic rhymes you’ll ever hear. He seems to get a ton of looks from artist who respect his craft but this shyt sucks.

Stop listening. He's not for you.
