Das Efx was a case of their own success eating them alive... they had to completely change their style up for the second album because everyone else had played it out. And it was good, it just wasnt the Das Efx style anymore.

... how can their first album not be considered a classic? literally EVERYONE in hip hop from old school east coast spitting legends like Kane, to West Coast gangsta rap legends like Ice Cube, to new jacks like common sense BIT their style hard. There was a 6 month period where everyone was on that iggity flow with the commercial/limericks thrown in. Thats a true classic, even if you dont like the record personally, its an undisputed hip hop classic.

As a person who grew up on early 00's hip-hop, I missed/overlooked alot of the 90's stuff. The older I get, the more I can appreciate it. I would say that 90's sampled boom bap is probably my favourite "sub-genre" of hip-hop now and I'm really enjoying the exploration of it. The volume of artistry that came out in back then was truly unmatched, this album is an example of that.
