What does that have to do specifically with Oakland? This is what posters in here mean when they say speaking over the residents and community leaders of the actual city while not being from said city. Violent crime dropping a bit after huge increases post-pandemic and some of the worst numbers since the crack era is not a huge win. Of course violent crime is down a lot of prominent criminal organizations got hit with R.I.C.O.’s city to city and shyt is also slowly stabilizing from the pandemic.

In Oakland murders are down 13% but other forms of violent crime are up 15%, burglaries are up 41%, and vehicle theft is up 50% which coincides with national trends where even here in NYC murders are down a bit but vehicle theft is up 18% since last year and is up 350% (!) since pre-pandemic (thanks Kia Boys)…

Garbage men, city workers, transit workers, and working your way up in retail too. People look down on retail, but if you can get into management, you can do well. We just want to get to the top right away, and are convinced other groups have everything handed to them.

Factory workers, car mechanics, truck drivers, plumbing apprentice, HVAC apprentice, construction workers, transit divers, airport security,…

But yeah “I can’t find a job so it’s OK for me to steal” though…

I’m not from Oakland.

But I’m sure municipal jobs are available both degree and non-degree.

I can speak for NYC where we are struggling to fill municipal jobs currently in a hiring crisis with 8% of jobs available across all departments. I think this is a national trend too.

I would consider any municipal job as “gainful” employment even the lower salaried ones and there are hundreds of job titles across municipal services.

What is worth it? What is decent enough?

Instead of making stuff up, do like I said and go to the site, and show me the tons of jobs that pay enough to live comfortably in Oakland that regular brehs just refuse to take. Here, I'll do the first two steps for you.

People with morality and work ethic or either to busy working too tired to commit a violent crime or respect their freedom and life enough to not endanger both.

None of that has to do with the poverty you're trying to create. Quick question whens the last time you saw a malnourished teenager in America?

Poverty of the mind is the problem

I live in Baltimore. I see kids who look like shyt eating crap begging almost every day. Kids who look like they don't eat regularly when school is out. If you're not doing crime, or doing the squeegee hustle, you're likely assed out. I don't see kids working fast food, it's mostly adults now. Jobs that are net positive are few and far between. As soon as they cut afer school and summer programs and jobs for kids, it went from bad to worse. They're broke and bored.

Rural Filipinos are poor, but I assume self sufficient, and aren't bloodsucked by the 1% who rub it in their faces. Their cost of living is probably nothing compared to an American major city, where economic disadvantage means oppression.
