It's Oct 28, 2011. I'm following Miss Info's blog and she posts this joint:

I had heard "Purple Swag". Thought it was trash. "Peso" had warmed me up a bit. I wasn't blown away but I thought it was a decent joint. The video reminded me of some ol Ruff Ryders shyt and the screwed part of the chorus was on some Smif-N-Wessun shyt "gonna lick a boy!"
Then this drops. First time hearing Clams Casino.
The last time a hip hop beat fukked with me mentally was when Madvillainy came out. I actually thought the beat for "Bass" was made wrong. The loop restarted too soon in my opinion just as it was approaching a really beautiful melody - then all of a sudden, back to the beginning. Halfway through the track, Rocky starts shouting "Bass" over and over again. I was like: "WTF is this shyt?!"
But for some weird reason, I could not stop playing it. Then I go online and I'm reading all these comments from people who say they can't stop playing it either.
This video drops a week later. I see how dude and his peoples are rocking to the beat and it all clicks for me:
This joint is some Illuminati hypnosis shyt. It's pure genius. Joints like this make me say that Drake/Kendrick/J Cole/etc aren't even close to what Rocky is experimenting with (and succeeding at it). Their stuff is generic and typical compared to what Rocky is doing on Live.Love.ASAP.
It's hands down my favorite track from a new school artist in 10 years. shyt sounds raw as fukk like the good ol street hip hop I grew up on, but with a totally different vibe.
Even though this is an appreciation thread, I imagine there will be haters (like blood). If you're gonna hate, at least have a thoughtful reason. E.g. "beat's too slow and I'm not fukking with slow Screw shyt." Calling someone a stan or ghey aint gonna cut it.

Really good at the time, but aged the worst.
