Honestly, it took me a few months to warm up to this tape. I just didn't get it at first. It was too weird

I was the same way. When it first came out I just thought it was alright and didn't really get the hype but as time went on i liked it more and more. Now it's one of my favorite projects of all time

Maybe I would have warmed up to it sooner if i had actually checked the whole tape out. I heard "Bass" the day it dropped. I was so stuck on that joint I didn't even pay attention to the other shyt. I tried to listen to "Palace" and "Demons" and they sucked in comparison. I remember thinking that Demons beat was an annoying clusterfukk. That vocal sample in the very beginning threw me the fukk off Now I think it's one of the greatest beats I've ever heard

It wasn't until Pretty Flacko came out, which floored the shyt out of me. And then I heard "Trilla" at a club and I was like: 'who the fukk is this?!' The DJ said it was ASAP. That's when I thought I I should really sit down and listen to the tape. that was like jan 2012. then "Leaf" was the joint that did me in.

My all-time albums are like that. I tend to obsess over a couple songs at a time until I make my way across the entire project.

One of the few undisputed classics of this decade. Rocky was only making music for a short amount of time up to that point

Has to be one of the greatest actual FIRST projects an artist has released.

Rocky had a great creative team around him, no doubt, but he was taking rapping seriously for like five months before he released the mixtape. And even shorter amount of time when he released Purple Swag.

Mic presence and personality is really something you can't teach I guess. You either have it or you don't.
