Anyone else feel like ASAP's hype was inflated? He came out the gate with a hot mixtape and seemed to have a "movement" but never could make that second step like Drake, Cole, Kendrick, etc. For whatever reason he doesn't translate with the mainstream. His biggest song (fukking Problems) has like every hot rapper on it, which is like an admission of not being hot yourself.

Maybe it's because Drake, Cole, and Kendrick had multiple mixtapes and built their brand over a few years before releasing a major label debut.

ASAP's music isn't normal or quite fit in with what the mainstream wants. He has a niche and a core fanbase, he could never be an actual superstar.

Mayne, his album went gold at the end of the day :yeshrug:

I think he's going to do well 2nd time around and produce better music as well.

He really needs to get back with SGP and put 100's on his track and come out with stuff that isn't so dark and corny
