Anyone else feel like ASAP's hype was inflated? He came out the gate with a hot mixtape and seemed to have a "movement" but never could make that second step like Drake, Cole, Kendrick, etc. For whatever reason he doesn't translate with the mainstream. His biggest song (fukking Problems) has like every hot rapper on it, which is like an admission of not being hot yourself.
Maybe it's because Drake, Cole, and Kendrick had multiple mixtapes and built their brand over a few years before releasing a major label debut.
Does it matter?
And how is it an admission of not being hot yourself when his album did 140k first week w/ a month early leak? Makes no sense. Singles don't sell albums.
He has a core fanbase, not to mention it's not like he has 1/4th the music out the artists you named, do.
He dropped 1 mixtape, then 1 album that went gold.
Rocky isn't a singles artist and he's obv not anywhere near big enough like Drake to drop a song that isn't exactly single worthy but still gets major radio play and a Grammy nomination.

that's what makes it funny
