Stop it. It's a difference between creative and just making crap. And he can still retain real hip hop heads without making obvious pandering material. J Cole and Kendrick are perfect examples and they are way bigger then Rocky. Ferg and Rocky can do perfectly fine without the srillex junk or LSD

Kendrick and J Cole? Just stop. Their entire careers are the definition of pandering. There is nothing bold, visionary or edgy about those guys

Exactly. They stay in their lane and people appreciate them for it. You will never see J Cole featuring AfroJack or Florence and the machine on his albums. It's a consistent listening experience. You listen to Rocky album and you can be listening to some fire like M's or PMW and then some try hard bullshyt will follow up. There is nothing edgy or creative about it

Rocky has amassed an impressive discography in a relatively short time.

For those that wonder what the hype is, maybe my list will help. Feel free to chime in and suggest songs of your own.

God tier Rocky classics:

Bass
Brand New Guy
Pretty Flacko
Demons
Palace

Top tier Rocky classics:

Wassup
Trilla
Kissin Pink
Purple Swag Chapter 2
Peso
Keep It G
Leaf
Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2
Multiply
LVL
Yamborghini High?
Max Julien?

Good/decent tier Rocky songs:

PMW (good luck finding the DJ Clue version without Schoolboy Q - much better)
Out of This World
Purple Kisses
LSD
JD
M's
Get Lit
Goldie
Pharsyde

What songs would you put in the god tier/top tier/good tier?
I can't disagree with one placement except I'd swap out brand new guy for keep it g

Good job

I'll never Understand the Rocky hate. I really don't

He pushes for innovation
Goes the extra mile to be creative
Takes risks all the time
Puts on for that entire team

And he raps without simping which is something that Hip Hop desperately needs.

I get tired of nigggas moanin bout bytches for a whole albums.

Plus, he RAPS. Like the delivery is there heavy
The aggression is there heavy.

Really someone in the game who gets unwarranted hate.

How much can you possibly talk about a dude with three (four?) projects out?
I give ALLA a lot more credit than it seems most do here and I fukk with his first release heavy, but dude isn't doing anything crazy progressive like you like to purport... He's made a name off having a good ear - or at least having a handler with a good ear.

Lames are always behind the curve and hating :yeshrug:

I honestly don't get it. In terms of aggressive delivery done with finesse, you know... actual RAPPING, nobody new is on Rocky's level. If you know someone who is, please point them out. I'm dying to hear it.

Besides, I'm not the only one saying this. Look at the post above

Bass is honestly the only song of his i'd call a classic. He has other dope cuts but that one song is the only song that really sticks out for me.

I don't really get how you can say that when he's just rehashing older themes/sounds. Cherry picking elements from previous generations and amalgamating them into one (granted, cohesive) product isn't really revolutionary, it's what YouTube producers do all day.
His selling point is his 'swag'. I do like dude and respect what he's doing in regards to different flows on every track, great art direction, etc but it's hard for me to take your stances seriously when you can praise this dude so much but totally discount his forefathers.
