Beyonce and Jay-Z's surprise collaborative taped inspired another favourite duo,
Ashanti and
Ja Rule. If you can remember, Rule
followed-up on the new project saying: "Iconnic... The Carters... New album is dope!!! @ashanti I think we should do one of these joint albums haha... #fortheculture #iminspired." Ashanti got the message and confirmed that it's happening.
"Listen, me and Rule, it's so funny because we've been talking about that for so long, but I think now he's like, 'OK, now it's time to do it,'" she told
Entertainment Tonight at the BET Awards. "So we're going to carve out the time and make it happen."
Ashanti and Rule have made some classic bangers such as"Always On Time," "Mesmerize" and "Happy." To this day when any of the latter is played anyone is bound to bump to the beat.
"It’s definitely grown,"
Ashanti previously said of her and Rule's relationship. "It’s crazy because, as much as people would think we were so close in the beginning, we were on so many different paths. When I came out with my first album, I would be touring in one part of the country and he would be touring on the other part. We were close but it was never like this, until after he went away for a while. We kind of spoke back and forth, and we actually spent four hours on the phone before that situation [going on tour] happened and just spoke about so many things that really made us a lot closer."
