Another issue I have with my barber at times. I'll get there, be next, then he'll say he wants to run out and get some food because he hasn't eaten all day. Dude will take 30 mins to get food and eat. Why not just eat before you start and then carve out time on your calendar where you'll eat and schedule people around there.

I like the social atmosphere of the barbershop as well, but we can still improve the professionalism of the place.

My $0.02
I been rockin a baldy since 03”...but yeah, back then when I went to the barber I came across all types of fukkery. Dudes claiming their “friends” had appointments when the rest of we’re waiting, barbers dipping for lunch breaks without saying anything...dudes bumping their prices like crazy...guys talking clients to death while we’re all waiting...I could go on.

The people I know who went to the Korean spot said they never had to deal with any of that. They get done at half the price and not any of the problems

It depends on how I like da other barbers in the area. Being black don't automatically win my business like that. That being said though I aint never went to a non black barber and got a good cut.

I pay $30 a cut (with tip) and go every 2 weeks. DMV prices man :francis:

$60 a month vs $14 a month :patrice:

$552 in savings over the course of a year :patrice:

Yeah but I’m hoping the barber atmosphere is lit with convo, usually around black issues. I’m not chilling and chopping it up with an Asian barber. Yuck.

Me and all the homies went to a female asian barber in high school. She had top 3 taper on the Eastside :wow:

Only had to tell her dont go against the grain. She was the only one in the shop that could cut nikkas hair too :ehh:

No, its more than just a cut, when I go to the shop. I'm literally there for 3/4 hours or until the shop closes, straight cutting or some fukkery shiiiit

Only non-black shop I've ever been to was a Dominican place in New York once cuz I was out of town and a relative recommended it.

It was a very different experience. They gave me a number slip so I didn't have to worry about my place in line, and I didnt pay the barber, but rather a cashier on the way out. I was in and out very quickly, with a nice cut.

As someone who can take or leave the whole "social" aspect of black barbershops, I was pleasantly surprised.

Lots of newer Black Barbershop are moving to this same format too.

Not that big a fan of it tho

I feel you. There are days were I don’t mind chopping it up in the shop. But there I days I need to be in and out in 25 mins.

There are only so many hours in the day for me to talk about Fantasy football and the like :manny:

I’ll buy black if the product/service is good. But I won’t repeatedly spend money on a sub-par product just because. It does no one any benefit.

I haven't been to a barber shop in YEARS but I do remember the black barber I used to see once a month would charge me just $5 then upgraded to $10, that's when I decided to buy my own clipper set and cut, shape, trim (I'm professionally skilled) whenever I need to save time & money altogether :yeshrug:.

I get the whole "This is THE BARBERSHOP" (in Cedric's voice :lolbron:) aspect of it but for me I've never really sat up in a barbershop holding conversations...I'd just go inside, get the cut and bounce :yeshrug: never really looked at it in this "brotherly love/homely" feeling you guys express.
