Real talk, I was in NYC not to long ago and literally the ONLY people in the subways after 5 or 6 was mentally ill or restaurant workers. On dude literally just pulled his shyt out and pissed on the wall at the same station this happened at.

Getting rid of mental hospitals literally made the streets dangerous as hell.

On a per capita basis, we are number 10 on the planet and actually give more per citizen than all other english speaking countries (uk, canada, new zealand, Australia, etc). We also give more to our poor than all the advanced asian countries(hongkong, taiwan, south korea, japan,singapore) on a per capita basis.


Similarly we rank no.2 in welfare spending on a nominal/total net spending on our people. Only france gives more than us on a planet of 195 countries.

As a general rule of thumb I'd rather keep people out of jail than in jail but I have a hard time disagreeing with you in regards to violent offenses. Not sure what this guys priors were but i have a hard time believing he had 4 prior violent offenses. Priors can mean a lot of things.
