Outside of the blacks that do well enough to get into these IVY leage schools, I think many blacks should focus on learning a trade. It can be IT, Computer Programming, Plumbing, etc. The return on investment is going to be much higher and less debt. Many community colleges have programs that specialize in trades now and you can do two years there and finish at a state school college. If you're throwing up 40gs or more a year for a liberal arts degree you're wasting money.

Let these other people obsess over getting into these schools. The black undergraduate populations has averaged about 6% for the past 20 years according to The Atlantic. People are really wasting their time over that? Seems like alot of these pissed off applicants are just trying to weasel their way into a school they didn't have the grades for. Even if I don't agree with it, these private Ivy League schools should be able to decide how they admit students.

The game is learning a trade and selling a product. The best thing about going to a Ivy League school is the network you can build. If you go to one and don't build that network, you wasted time anyway. If you don't want to learn a trade and are creative, open a shopify site and sell some products. With Facebook and Google Ads, it's easier for someone on a budget to reach their audience that will buy something. If you are creative you should still be using your creative skills as a trade. Make logos, flyers, etc for other small businesses to pad your own business until it's off the ground.

I have to say I agree with you fam. I went through a university program often being the only black kid in my classes. I'm a capable guy but I just always felt like the other kids gave me the side-eye because of this AA nonsense.

Because it's YOUR fault the other kids gave you the side-eye because they didn't believe you were capable of getting in as a Black person without AA. Because their racist beliefs are YOUR FAULT since you're the Black person.

It should be abolished. Good in principle but terrible in practice. One of those policies that make sense in a broad view but have unintended side-effects.

I heard this professor on NPR state that whites and Asians complaining about affirmative action is the equivalent of complaining about pregnant mother parking at the mall during Black Friday.

If you didn't get the spot at the top tier college it wasn't because of the Black or Latino kid. You didn't get in because of the international South or East Asian kid that cheated on the SAT/ACT's and their parents/company paid FULL PRICE for tuition.

Even if they took all the minority spots it still wouldn't be enough spots for them. How come they not going at whitey?

I attended undergrad at a University of California campus and graduate school at a top 30 (overall and top 10 in my field) university.

I will tell you right now East Asians and South Asians have admitted to me they cheated their ass off in school.

They've told me how they would work together on assignments and give each other the answers. They are not smarter than anybody else they are blatant fukking cheaters.

My school sometimes had professors who taught via "skype" frok different campuses ie my campus was in manhattan but they taught grom the long island campus

Well the indian kids would work in the IT office where the professor would send the tests which would then be given to the class

Well the indian kids ij my 5 years there would always be in that IT room and always those kida would come late to class the day of the tests

Well i found out the professor would send the tests early and the indians would all head to the library to work on the tests with open notes for hours before the scheduled test, theyd come in with all the answers ahead of time

They would also freeze the camera in the room by sending a signal so theyd be in class using notes in the back but the professor couldnt tell. Unbeknowst to most of us who thought he couod see

Even guys would pass down the tests from the previous year to the next class, itd usually be same test wit just diff numbers so if u did it before itd be easy to study for that type of problem ahead of time

All of us city kids figured out this out like our 4th year in thatbthe foreign students were all cliqued up getting all these tests and using their jobs to get ahead

This was prevalent with the chinese and indian students which would come in groups. Even shoutung answers in their languge noone knew what theyd be saying

shyt got crazy at my school. Itd literally be all the native nyc white spanish and black kids vs the foreign indian and asian cliques. Theyd all be getting 100s by cheating and wed be getting 70s and they fukked up the curve.

The indians would pas around a zip that had the ENTIRE programs tests and notes between each other. Im talking the entire electrical and mechanical engineering programs tests. Every class. These guys would have all of the answers and tests (tests changed very lil brtween the years) and they would pass them between their own group year after year every year

We did. The rest of us grouped up in study groups. The difference was we didnt have years versions of tests to study off of. We had to study the whole semester curriculum while the rest had the tests of pervious years AND the current test once it was sent over.
