Asked the boss for a raise yesterday

I've been at this jobsite under 3 months
Its construction/demo

I asked him for a raise, then immediately started explaining why I think I have earned it. He cut me off, told me he is aware of what I do. And he will be making a presentation to the owner within the week.

It's my first time doing this type of work. I've always been a CNC machinist. But hes taught me alot of shyt and he depends on me to get the team working hard. When he leaves the site, he tells me to watch them and make sure they're working. Hes given me other responsibilities as well as the owner has given me daily tasks to do personally

I'm fine with taking on a bigger role, having people depend on me, and being able to motivate the team. But I need that raise.

This switch of careers has brought me peace. Was battling demons and losing my mind for years. ignoring families pleas for me to get help with my mental health.

The love of my life hung herself, and it destroys me everyday. But since getting out of factory shyt, I am the happiest I have been in years.

Honestly man, after running a waterjet at 60K in the background and running a plasma table that was not submerged.. I would have went deaf in a few years

My boss told me I'm an asset, and we have had several discussions why I am useful. When the workers stop listening to him, and everything is going to shyt. He calls me in and I get everything back again . He mentioned a pay increase when we switch from demo to construction
And next week we will be starting construction. We just did a 10 story building

I've NEVER asked for a raise at any place I've worked. I got raises when it was time for review. I'm confident in what I have been doing there, and I'm the only one qualified to work with sheet metal there, as well as HVAC.
There is another team at this place that got tons of raises in the summer, but they lost on starting the construction. The owner sees what we are doing and how efficient we are versus them.

The owners brother in law is at the building everyday. He comes to my boss and compliments him on the good work we have done on each floor, and how fast. He has taken pictures and sent them across the companies email list as an example of what they like.
My boss tells him that I was the one that did majority of it.

I was getting sent to floors by myself ahead of the team so I could get all hangers and finishing touches done. The previous team didnt even finish cleaning the floors of scrap and doors.

I have saved them alot of manpower hours by busting my ass. As well, I saved alot of shyt that was being destroyed on each floor before me. I talked to them, got them to re-use certain big items, put them in the basement until we do construction.

Proper recycling of metals since everyone else was contaminating the bins.

Nah man, you should rethink it in my opinion

You can just be a full fledged Programmer and make alot of money. If you're worried about going deff, you could go into an office role of Designer/Programmer
You can make 80 to 90K easily going that route

I must admit, that actually did not cross my mind. It may be something I ponder down the road. Just needed a break from factory life. Even being in the office I'd be unhappy. Was battling depression bad.
Since I've switched it up, I'm happy once again. My head doesnt feel like a thunderstorm.


I will be getting my real estate license this spring/summer. .

Never asked for a raise anywhere before.
I am confident in what I bring to the table, and for what I have done at that place.

They were Demo'ing 1 floor in just under 2 months. It took 3-4 weeks on the floors I worked on.
