Open 3 threes are not easy to come by when dealing with elite defenders. And them dudes bodies gon be in a world of hurt guarding Op team. Ain’t no hiding. Them legs gon be hurting
Which of those players among Magic, MJ, Kobe, LeBron, or Shaq were known for shutting down elite three-point shooters?

I already posted receipts of three-point shooters lighting up MJ, Kobe, and Bron....didn't even need to do that for Magic and Shaq.

you got people in here naming klay thompmson, steph curry, kahwi, leonard, embeed etc... like these nikkas would even be allowed in the gym to watch this game. :mjlol:

I'll go with this team although really no team has a shot

C - 1975 Kareem Abdul Jabbar
PF - 1986 Hakeem (younger more athletic than peak dream)
SF - 1986 Larry Bird
SG - 1977 Dr J (I don't have another SG good enough to play in this game so give me the doctor
PG - 1987 Isiah Thomas

Hakeem Olajuwon - He embarrassed a young Shaq. Prime Shaq is a different story but, I think Hakeem still drops 30 on his head.
Tim Duncan - Duncan would give more presence down low with Hakeem. Shaq would be overwhelmed with both of them.
Kevin Durant - 6"11, too tall for Kobe or Jordan to guard. LeBron will have to check him, leaving a mismatch for Duncan.
Dwayne Wade - Slasher, can guard Kobe, will get Shaq in foul trouble. Prime '09 Wade is the best SG all time after Jordan/Kobe.
Steph Curry - Magic is too slow for him, Kobe and Jordan will get tired having to guard him all game. If they try to put Magic on Duncan or Durant, and put Jordan on Steph, Magic would get exposed down low. Steph's shooting ability would bust the game wide open once he got hot. He'd be a weaklink on D though.

I'm almost tempted to exchange Kawhi Leonard for Wade.

You like 22 years old so you saw ZERO of those years. You're basing that off of rep/highlights. I bet you ain't even watched more than a couple highlights of Kareem in 1975 or Dr J in 1977, you're just rolling with stat lines. :childplease:

And what kind of sorcery would cause the greatest team to all be guys who learned to play in the 1960s and 1970s when bball was in its infancy, only the 4th or 5th most popular sport in America and was hardly even shown on tv, and the total pool of guys who played was like 50 million Americans?

Now basketball is one of the most popular sports in the entire world, 500 million ballers are developing their skills from a young age, but somehow in your mind they can't produce a single one better than those "good old days"??? :camby:

So you got Magic guarding KD in that scenario? :mjlol:

They aren't going to have "issues" guarding those shooters. Both teams will score. But 3 is worth a lot more than two. Say OP's team shoots 60% from the field on twos....you do realize that all my team has to do is shoot 40+% from three and it will be outpacing that?

MJ almost never faced an elite three-point shooter in the playoffs. The one time it happened, Reggie shot 44% from three for the series. Who else did MJ have to face like that?

Kobe always got worked by elite shooters. Ray Allen set the finals record for threes against Kobe with 22 threes on 52% 3pt shooting in the 2008 Finals. Bruce Bowen was a CAREER 53% three-point shooter against Kobe in the playoffs. Raja Bell was a CAREER 45% three-point shooter against Kobe in the playoffs. Steve Smith was a CAREER 46% three-point shooter against Kobe in the playoffs. Rip Hamilton and Chancey ripped up the Lakers for 40% 3pt and 47% 3pt in the 2004 Finals. Back in 2000 Reggie made 38% of his threes and Jalen Rose made 50% of his against the Lakers in the Finals. EVERY TIME Kobe faced a strong three-point shooter in the playoffs they teed off on him.

And LeBron a great defender but he ain't locking up a tall shooter like Durant. Durant is lifetime 43% from three-point range against LeBron in his 14 games against him in the playoffs.

Steph, Klay, and KD are going to be shooting around 43-45% from three like they always do. Hakeem will match Shaq fine down low and Scottie will help facilitate everything. On defense Klay and Scottie are light years better as a tag team than any two defenders MJ ever faced, KD/Scottie/Klay will give LeBron different looks all game, and Hakeem/Durant are protecting the rim just fine. The key is letting Kobe iso on Steph all day so he keeps pressing and ballhogging and disrupting everyone else's rhythm. Kobe could put up 40 points on 17-35 shooting and that would KILL OP's team because that would be far less efficient scoring than what anyone else would be doing.

Not to mention that MJ/Kobe/LeBron/Shaq are going to be fighting over the ball all day while Magic is used to having it in his hands 90% of the time, while my team is perfectly balanced in that regard.

You basing your stats off a out of prime MJ and He barely even guarded Reggie that series
So those numbers mean squat

Kobe barely guarded Ray. He was mostly on Rondo
