At Ghostface's current age, could he resurrect his Supreme Clientele style?

That Stream-of-consciousness style is so unique and sophisticated and complex that I think it'd be damn near impossible to bring back that style.

He should have got way more props back then for what he created. Just think if Ghostface wrote the album as a book of poetry, and say he had it published under his real name--just think of the kind of accolades he'd receive.

It's a shame that hip hop still hasn't received the aesthetic respect it should as an art form. In terms of artistic respect, it should be venerated even more than any other musical genre created, because it involves a whole new creation of literary form. This stuff should be taught at universities; and not just due to its cultural history, impact and relevance.

Anyways,

Did quitting the drugs really affect Ghost that much that he has lost the ability to resurrect that style? I mean, dude used to smoke angel dust; i'd imagine that he'd have to be in that zone in order to write in that way.

What happened to this dudes creativity? I mean, dude was god status when it came to originality. Remember the robes and shyt? Dude was from another planet at that time. His imagination is still top-notch, but it seems to be that he's dulled a bit, maybe due to old age.

I always feel that way when I listen to Killah Priest's Heavy Mental. His style is a work of art for real.

Ghost has changed a lot since then. you'd call it a spiritual transformation. You would never tell from his interviews these days but he was a violent schizophrenic maniac. Dust is no joke that shyt will thrust you right into your subconscious and if you are thinking frantic, violent thoughts...that shyt is literally like a trip to hell. it takes a special kind of person to go there over and over and over again.

Great post. With that said, I guess the answer is no, since it was drug induced.

You think he'll use that style for the album? :usure: :cacmjpls:

In terms of creativity Fishscale is up there, though. Imagine Supreme's style with Fishscale's production :ohlawd:

:whoa: Africa? :wtf: When did he say that?

im pretty sure he and rae were somewhere and africa when and they wrote the lyrics

can someone confirm ?

I could be wrong tho

edit: nah Im right from wikipedia

In late 1997, Ghostface Killah and producer RZA took a several month long trip to Africa, where a large portion of Supreme Clientele's lyrics would be written.[4] While in Africa, the culture had an effect on Ghostface's lyrics.[4] Un-like his acclaimed lyricism on his debut Ironman, and Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... album, Ghostface Killah rarely makes references to crime and materialism on Supreme Clientele.[4] He explained "fukk all this Tommy Hilfiger, Polo, all that shyt. They don't give a fukk about none of that in Africa. Everything is the same. But over here, everybody wanna be better than the next one. Nah, it's not like that over there. They might be fukked-up money wise, but trust me, them muthafukkas is happy. They got each other".[4] One of the earliest lyrics Ghostface wrote while in Africa was "Nutmeg", a song with a rhythmic, off-beat cadence.[4] Regarding the song's form, he stated "That's a wild song. That shyt's one of the illest styles I ever came up with, because I had no music to write to".[
