What field did you transition into?

Public librarianship. It's only part-time, but library jobs are so scarce that I'll just have to suck it up for the next couple of years until I complete library school. My M.Ed. is in Library Science, but that's not the same as a Master of Library Science, and you absolutely cannot be an L2* without one. So it's back to grad school I go in the fall. :sadbron:

Worst thing is that black/Hispanic librarians only make up 8% of the country's librarians. Even worst, 0.5% are black men. I'm surrounded by nothing but cacs.

*L1= assistant librarian; usually requires a master's w/about 15 hours of LIS classes and always part-time. L2=full-time librarian.

Well good luck with all that :salute:

My moms is a reference librarian for a major, private consulting company. Basically, her bosses meet with clients who pitch them ideas about new products/technology/services, then they pass the information along to her. She then researches, collates and confirms veracity of data, and then summarizes it in whatever format they deem fit. She has an M.S. in Information Science and makes a nice wage.

Just something to consider in case the public thing doesn't work out. :obama:
