Yep, the price gouging here during the pandemic was fukking disgusting, a lot of those prices remain today, the people that run these grocery store chains are actual demons.

shops cannot normally push up prices by significant amounts and have to compete in lowering them.
but the pandemic moved the herd (as one).
now that the expectation of price rises has set in and they know that the others will put up prices you have tacit collusion in the majority constantly putting them up.
they now know that customers have nowhere else to go as their competitors are no longer fighting to lower prices.
it is collusive price manipulation (illegal) without saying a word (legal).
collusion via telegraphed behaviour.
buy what you can at aldi or lidl.
