I really dug into rap in the late 90s when I 12 or 13 years old. My family had just bought our first desktop PC. Once I got the internet it was a wrap...I found a site called Audio Galaxy 2G or something like that. It wasn't even mp3s at the time they were real audio files with a lower audio quality. This is around the time I first listened to Illmatic and Reasonable Doubt. Previous to finding this site I would just go on Ohhla and read the lyrics to songs on illmatic and reasonable doubt. AOL chat rooms also introduced me brand new artists I never heard of before. I remember East Coast cats yelling Big L's name all the time as one of the best. Which lead me to checking out Lifestylez ov da poor and dangerous.

Always been as far as I can remember. My older brother was playing the early stuff in the early/mid 80s...if I can pinpoint the exact moment it was when I was 8/9 years old and big bro bought me Paid in Full and Goin' Off tapes for Christmas.

EDIT: I was 10 years old.

Like 12-13 I was the nikka wit a big ass box full of tapes(albums, dubbed tapes, homemade radio mixes) and it gradually got bigger thru high school nikkas use to always hit me up to dub tapes or to find out the names of rappers/songs.I was like the encyclopedia for them I grew up in the goat era so I lived thru all the greatest rappers discographies.
