Went thru some real ish and had to jump that hurdle of "stop doing dumb shyt." Unemployment, underemployment, lethargic behavior and small hints of depression. Had to man up and apply myself and never stop doing such.

Pretty much what @Hijo de luna said plus:

- Happiness does not have a dollar value
- Fukk with only those that have been there for you at your lowest and reciprocate (Fukk all that fairweather friend ish)
- Give zilch fukks about your apperence/ perception(except in a professional environment)
- Learn to kick "cancers" outta your life. That includes family. Haven't fukked with an entire side of the family bc of the dumb shyt they did and do.

There's more I'm sure.

I agree with everything else but those two.

I think I am discovering who I am now. I went through a bunch of health scares and realized there was so much I haven't accomplished yet.

An author...mainly science fiction books and screen writing...

I've been splitting my time between doing a regualr 9 - 5 IT gig and writing for the last 3 years now...

I only write when I have the time...but with my job and recently getting married I never really have the time...

So it took me this long to figure out, that if I want to be a writer...I am just going to have to make the time for it....short change some stuff here...stay up later her...stay in and write on a friday instead of going out with friends...

Plus I have grown to strongly dislike my job, the IT industry in general, and corporate jobs as a whole...i view every second I spend writing is a second closer to me getting out of the corporate rat race

I am going through the same thing (except the getting married part). The creative industry is booming too so there's gotta be a way for us to get the jobs we want and eat...

I thought I knew, but it wasn't until I came out of the other side of my last break up that I figured it out.

I kinda feel like you don't get it until you lose it all a couple of times. Hit rock bottom and shatter.

Whatever you're left with after you pick up the pieces is you.
