as soon as i came out the womb
- Here's one side hustle I'm working on: Merch By Amazon
- Yes I major in CS
- When I first applied last summer, it was just by applying on the company website. I found the listing through Indeed. I work for the same company now, and I got a pay raise, partially because I'm working in a different location. But my previous salary was also high.
I've been looking at Merch too. It's by invite only and I think they shut down acceptance right now. Can't nobody get in that bytch but I heard when they had open registrations people were making mad bread
How hard would you say the classes are math wise? I'm super trash at math, but I want a good career and money and computer science sounds like a good major, but I'm beyond terrible at math.
I just applied literally 2 days ago....From what I've seen in the Facebook groups they recently asked people who already applied to apply again. They've changed the application process, you now submit your banking info when you apply. Also they really want you to have some sort of graphic design experience, so if you can even BS a portfolio and throw it up on some free website host that could help your application speed.
It varies a lot by school honestly. I've heard of CS programs with Calc 1 as the only math requirement, which you should be able to get through even if math isn't your thing. Others (typically the higher ranked ones from what I've seen) are very math heavy.

I just applied literally 2 days ago....
I have graphic design experience and did the rest...can't remember if they asked me for my banking info
Looks like a 2 month waiting period. Suck
Did you teach yourself graphic design ? If so how?
I did. Mostly time and effort.
Also i took a few linkedin courses on typography, layout and composition, colors, etc. Don't go too crazy with online classes though I notice its easy to get addicted to the idea of taking a whole bunch of classes which feels productive but not actively practicing. Don't do that.
Read a few books (something I still need to catch up on) like the Design of Everyday Things, and Seductive Design
If I had to do one thing I would memorize and try to apply the principles of design to your own projects and especially projects you are inspired by. There are only 8 of them. There's also a insightful linkedin course with the same name.
Try to reason about design and understand why things are made the way they are made, breaking things down into their components. Pay attention to nuanced things like the relationship of one element with the rest of the environment
Experiment a lot.
Try to innovate off of others design, steal the elements you like, discard the ones you don't.
Get inspiration from Pinterest, Dribbble and Behance (if you need more sites PM me there are a bunch of good ones)
Constantly try to improve. I'm not that good of a designer but I'm 1000x better than a year ago, about when I first started.
Get the adobe suite and try to get proficient at most if not all of their apps. Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and After Effects are must haves. Getting good at Illustrator and Premiere Pro specifically can land you jobs.
Analyze photography, art and ESPECIALLY typography in regards to art
Keep sucking until you get better. Get good at the fundamentals.
It takes a while to get decent and there are some excellent designers out there. Don't let it discourage you.
Graphic design, design in general is probably the #2 skill to have behind programming as far as online is concerned. The two combined will give you incredible flexibility with regards to producing content
That depends on the employer. There's no magical high bar for graphic design but you probably - definitely want to have a portfolio. Your portfolio is your degree in a sense. It's your proof of work.Yeah, I was thinking taking many online classes to just get more skills in things.
So you would say you don't really need a degree in graphic design to be a graphic designer
When do you feel like you're ready to be taken seriously for jobs?

I feel like i was in my prime in my young years like 19-23 well money and hoes wise.. Got in a long ass relationship and forgot the fukk who i was..
Now a nikka back single again and everything coming together on all aspects of life.. In my younger years i didnt realize the damage that i could of rezlly did..
Now its on, knowing the shyt i know now and learning from all the mistakes i made, i got some shyt up my sleeve..
