At what point did boom bap start to mean "anything with real drums"?

Drum Loops that sound like this: Kick, Kick, Snare, Kick, Kick, Kick Snare, Snare, Kick, Kick, Snare, Kick, Snare, Kick, Snare, Snare. That's just an example not a formula. And the drums are usually louder than the rest of the beat. most east-coast 90's sh!t is Boom Bap.

boom bap is just kick and a snare sounds basically...historically tho it meant the old school, low bpm kicks and snare hip hop sound that comprised the main rhythm/melody
