expand because thats what many of these 2k athletes have trouble understanding.

Lamar Odom is a lumbering oaf on TV, but his coordination is phenomenal for a normal size let alone a 6'9 nikka

At the time I was 22 years old, 6'4, 215 pounds in really good shape, I was wrestling in high level tournaments around the country. A friend that I use to train with in high school just finished his rookie year on an NFL roster. He invited me to work out with him and a few other guys until they had to leave for training camp. Now...

All of these guys were my height or taller. All of them were at least 80 pounds heavier than me. All of them were much stronger than me. We would play pickup basketball, and all of them were abnormally coordinated. We would do "speed camp" workouts (ladder drills, resistance, assistance, ballistic jumps, yadda yadda) and their feet were so quick. Your average 300 pound dude can barely make it off the couch, these guys moved like deer.

The only time I felt like I had the upper hand was when we would hit the wrestling mat, but even then they were so much bigger and stronger it was touch to score on my feet.

Edit: That's when I realized I probably couldn't have played major D-1 football...

You could probably still make it if you run a 4.45. This kid from my high school just made it to the Cardinals as a DB and he was terrible, just fast. He guarded me in pickup games and couldnt stop me..so as a Seahawks fan Im happy that he made the league...

:ahh: Thats crazy... Yeah see the thing is... Two kids who I played highschool ball with, One went Boston College, the other to Harvard, and they were both way better ball players then me and bigger, neither of them made it past practice squads in the pros... If they can't make it... I know I can't....

To be honest I just wish I had gotten to the chance to be coached or trained at either football or basketball at a younger age. I moved from my dad and granddad (high school basketball coach) and that stunted my sports growth

I was a late bloomer at both but I still went to college to play football. Even at 24, I still feel as though I can go out and be dominate as an athlete.

6'0 185 35 inch vertical and could run 4.5 and lower.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
how was that experience overall especially going from dominating everyone you had faced against to whatever reaction you had at the camp from yourself, and others regarding your play

Terrible, it was too late to focus on my major weakness which was my off-hand, playing against regular folks and HS teams they couldn't expose it much. But when I had to go against people who were just as athletic or more so I turned into a garbage man roleplayer type. I wasn't the worst person on the floor, but going from what you thought was pretty good, to just average at best is horrible.

I had the game of a small forward, but the body of a strong ass PG.

Well...I grew up around bonafide nikkas so I was always behind the curb

Took me until 8th grade to actually startin shytting on folks athletically, but by then I wasn't really interested in sports :manny:

I still tried out football though, and I think I would have been pretty good but I the only sport I wanted any part of was basketball. Once that didn't work out
I just said eff it

I was recruited for football (defensive back) in Highschool, received offers to play @ 10 schools from Division 1A all the way to Division 2

4.45 40 Yard Dash

34 inch vertical

I always knew there were MUCH better athletes then me but I knew I was still doing good for myself....

Yea I always felt I could compete but I'm not a top level athlete.

I played college ball with Jerome Simpson and seeing him in college showed me that their was a level of athlete above what I could achieve.

My high school homie couldn't even catch on with practice squad and he dominated at wideout in a D2 school his senior running a 4.3. It's crazy how some folks catch breaks and others fall through the cracks.

that part about jerome simpson is true. I tell a lot of people, imagine the very best athlete you knew personally at a HS level in whatever sport....and theres at least 2 levels more above that just to be an average athlete at the pros.

Ex: I seen wes matthews drive left handed from the perimeter and took off from just outside the paint looking like he was going to go up with the left hand and then switched right, tucked his legs to his butt while he was the air, and finished right on the other side. By NBA standards Wes Matthews is an above average athlete, and by NBA standards thats a good but not spectacular play. I thought to myself though 9/10 rec ballers would say that was the most athletic thing they'd ever seen if it happened in front of their eyes at their gym

I went 3/3 against Vin Baker, and Im 6'0. Took his big ass to the perimeter and lit him up. Guarding him in the post was an issue though...

Thats when I realized I never could have made it. Dude pivotted and knocked me over with the quickness.

I was a state champion in high school in a different sport too and though im out of college now, Im just now coming to the realization that any career in sports will be coming from the coaching or front office perspective and not from the players perspective. shyt sucks

I would hope you couldnt guard big ass Vin Baker in the post if you are only 6'0. Really thats when you realized you couldnt make it? :wtf:

first time i really encountered a next level athlete on the same court. i used to scrimmage with a D-1 squad in Florida and they always put me on the 4 or the 5 for some reason...so when Vin walked into the gym i was like yoooo i got him. then i got destroyed defensively..thing is im way too slow to run point so when i finally got beasted strength wise i was like aight im done

ima have to call your ducktales right the fukk now...aint no D1 squad putting you on a 4 to scrimmage whether you were on the team or someone that was close to the team that got an invite to open runs if you are 6 feet tall
