At what point do you give up on DYI and call a professional?

i learned how to do quite a bit of DIY since covid.

part of that is trying to avoid local crehs like the plague.

I give myself an hour to figure it out. If I've made good progress I'll continue it the next day. If I haven't I'll call someone else. But this is because I enjoy handyman work. I wouldn't even bother if I didn't like fixing/building things.
