A lot are joining because of the benefits it provides them. Are we really going to blame folks who come from shytty backgrounds trying to seek opportunities when most of the doors are closed to them? There's a difference between the breh tryna join to go kill someone and the breh tryna join cuz he'll be able to afford college this way

I think back to the unintended consequences of WW2. It’s the black veterans from the U.S. and Africa who fought in WW2 who came back and realized they could not put up with the hypocrisy of apartheid and colonialism after fighting the Nazis. The white global power structure wasn’t prepared for that.

That’s why I can’t fault my homies who joined the military after HS despite my loathing for the American empire.

I can never blame a breh who joins the military. Despite my opposition to the American empire, It’s a perverse jobs program.

I think back to WW2. It’s the military guys who went out and saw the world here and in Africa, that came back and knew they could not settle for apartheid and colonialism.
