I personally stopped watching BET around 2014. I was 16 at the time.
Something about watching kats receive awards just became tacky, especially when I realized that the jokes were all scripted and rehearsed.
Why would I spend 3-4 hours of my after-school free time watching that? When you get older, you realize that you have better shyt to do sometimes.

Award shows fell off because people have 24/7 access to celebrities now. Who needs to wait to that special night when their favorite artist go in IG live every night. The mysteriousness is gone
