At what point is an athlete no longer a "kid"?

Bear with me in the randomness, but I've always been annoyed how 25, 27, even 29 year old men are being tagged as "kid". No one was calling me a kid at 25. Forgot who I was listening to, but they called curry a kid....I'm like this dude is 27 married with two kids himself and we still calling him kid? Then when athletes do display childish behavior (even as a kid - ie Jameis standing up on a table yelling about p*ssy) they're told to be adults. :dahell:

Btw - Kenny Mayne gotta be the coolest name in sports and he's pretty damn cool :obama:

Love
I hate that when they do something right their stans are cheering them as "grown men" but when they fukk up the same stand become apologists calling them "kids"

I also detest the new usage of the term "mistake". Robbing/Stealing beating someone up is not a fukkin mistake
But their stans love to use that word

Agree. It always annoyed me that everyday people who make indiscretions are punished as adults who made dumb decisions but athletes who rape and beat women, commit assault, get caught with drugs and weapons, etc. are referred to as "kids" who "just need time to learn."

Especially with white ones. I heard Ben Rothlisberger referred to as a kid when he raped those 2 chicks. Johnny Manziel is always referred to as just a kid even though he's broke every law short of murder.

My black ass doesn't get the opportunities to blatantly fukk up that a lot of athletes get. Why, cuz I don't throw a football for a livin? :camby:

My rule is as long as you treat someone like a kid (forcing them to go to class, limiting their ability to earn, preventing them from going pro) you can't turn around and expect adult level maturity and responsibility. Conversely, once you decide that you are ready to run with the big dogs, you are a grown man and subject to responsibility, pressure and scrutiny that comes with it.

I think its perspective. Alot of the announcers that use that terminology are twice there age and up. They probably do see them at kids because of their relative youth, and the fact they might have watched them back when they were actual kids (teens).
Once you get past a certain age, people in their 20s over 20+ years younger seem like kids.

They kinda are, you dont see it in your 20s, but once you start getting up in age, you really realize how young minded an "adult" can be in their 20s. especially if they in college.

i get calling someone in college a kid...but mid-late 20's you're not a kid. sometimes it's just the wording people use, but other times they'll say things like "the kid is 27...he still has time to....". 27 is not a kid

Personally, I expect mature behavior around 22-23 or 3-4 years of experience, whichever comes first. Maybe earlier if he's married with children. If a guy is on a second contract nobody should be calling him "kid."
