can you expound on this? if the simulation hypothesis were true wouldn’t the “dude in the sky” just be the programmer of the simulation?
Agreed, very well could be.
My thought is this:
If we can create a “universe” simulation today, I would imagine in 100-500-10,000 years the universe simulations would be far more advanced.
If in 10,000 years they can create a universe simulation that is capable of simulating all that we experience today, then they can create 2, or 3, or 100,000 of those same simulations (think copies of Madden sold vs. the real NFL)
If they can create 100,000+ copies of a simulated universe, then the likelihood that we are in the “real” universe is mathematically low.
So a programmer isn’t necessarily “God” in the sense of traditional religion (watching, guiding, judging etc)
