Houston? Nah...much respect to them & their music, but they haven't really influenced anything since the middle of the last decade.

What Houston rappers have been relevant in the past 5-6 years? Kirko Bangz? :usure:

Y'all would be better off saying chopped & screwed is an influential sound in hip hop, which I would agree with. But Houston as a whole hasn't really done much in several years...not a diss, just a fact

Ehh anybody from the outside looking in wouldn't know, but Houston failures musically are as much because a lack of talent. Talented Houston rappers just don't tend to make it out, because has a poor local music support base. A lot of cronyism and nepotism among the musical gatekeepers, no major media outlets for hip-hop, and poor fans. I used to say most kids in Houston, don't want to be from Houston, they wish they were in New York or L.A.; it actually took a New Yorker (A$AP Rocky) to make the Texas Hip-Hop culture cool to a lot of people actually living in Texas.

:stopitslime: slap yourself nikka. Houston has nothing but talent from Z-ro to Devin to K-rino. It failed bc of the combination of lack of unity, changing of style, and wanting to remain underground. Plus most people I know don't listen to anything outside out Houston.

It's not about relevancy, it's about the influence and our culture and style has been a huge influence which was what I thought the topic was about

You named 2 artists your city has influenced. I'd say Miami (bass music ) & NO (bounce music)are both more influential overall than HOU (chopped & screwed)

How has bounce music been influential and on who? And I disagree with Luke and Miami bass music being influential. They just done it first. I don't hear anyone rapping like Luke or anything
