Drake is the only artist consistently running the game for 5 years, bar none. And Drake just so happens to be heavily influenced by southern rap, jacking flows and dancing like the Sauce Twins - it's still the south. I agree that the game overall is less regional due to the impact of the internet but influence is still influence.
