you're pretty much good all over the city...i mean, make basic assessments like you normally would (assuming you have some type of street smarts and not some sheltered dude coming to the big city for the first time), but i've never felt unsafe in the city (although it ain't ALL good, it ain't like when nikkas came here after Katrina)...

you're good on Cascade Road...

MANHATTAN
I was raised in New York, but I was born in Atlanta, lived in Edgewood until I was 5, still have family all throughout the city (they've been there for generations), and I'm currently in the Atlanta area now. The actual city of Atlanta is gentrifying, but outside of a few areas, it's been a 'seesaw' of a process. Northwest, Southwest, and Southeast Atlanta are areas I'd generally (though there are small pockets of nice areas in each) steer clear of if I'm raising a family. The eastside of Atlanta (city limits, not suburbs) is easily the most gentrified part of the city. A portion of Northwest Atlanta that realtors now call West Midtown along with Grant Park are the only areas to experience a comparable change in demographics. On the flipside; Ansley Park, Brookhaven, Buckhead, Candler Park, Cascade, Collier Heights, Druid Hills, Inman Park, Virginia Highlands, and a few others I'm forgetting have always been nice neighborhoods.

City of Atlanta is gentrifying, as in whites moving in?

Yeah...

White people and coffee shops all over the place...

When you see White people walking their dogs and riding their bikes where shootouts used to happen...your city is gone...

I went to East Atlanta and was like... "Where the nikkas at..." :ohhh:

It's a wrap anywhere Black people flock to, all it takes is 30 years and there will be a new generation of yuppie White people ready to displace working class poor Black people...

But I''ll doubt ATL will end up totally like Brooklyn...but all I am saying White people is in places where you wouldn't expect them to be...:yeshrug:

Cascades cool

All of Cascade isnt cool, most of it is, but I would stay away from the low end. Richland, Montreat and Olympian Circle are turned up. Basically anything west of John A White on Cascade is cool and is probably one of the better all Black areas in the whole country. East of that not so much.

I was in Bankhead a little while ago.
It didn't seem to bad, but a lot of people were saying it was really "sketchy."
It was West Atlanta though.

Bankhead isn't bad. Folks who say its bad is like a dead give away that they a Cac or ain't from the West. Bankhead used to be worse than what it is now when the projects was up-Bowen Homes and Bankhead Courts, but even back then, most of the crime in Bankhead was in those bricks. Bankhead is just the most well known area on the west because of rap shyt. A lot of other hoods on the west resent Bankhead cuz they get the most shine and will take every chance they get to knock a breh from Bankhead down a peg or 2. When it comes to West Atlanta (NW,SW) the worst areas are the Bluff, Campbellton & Delowe, and the 9th Ward (Allen Temple, Delmar Lane). The 9 by far is the worst.

The Truth
All the same to me now.

If I wouldn't move into an area it is because of traffic more than anything else.

Southside around Old National Hwy and Southside, around Jonesboro rd is a start for places I wouldnt want to live. That little area south from Turner field would be included in stay away zones too. But there's soooo many good options in the A though.

Of course the ATL
Southwest a alright area? :patrice:

I'm from the SWATS specifically Cascade Rd by Adams Park so yes it's a great area. Historically black and middle class area. There is some redevelopment happening between Cascade and Delowe so some things are happening over there. You'd probably be living in an older home over there tho so I'm not sure if it's the best place in the city to live for a young, single breh.

As far as places to avoid I see people saying Bankhead...I wouldn't choose to live over there if I had a choice. And that's with no Bowen Homes or Bankhead Courts it's still rough. Lowery, Boone even going over to parts of the West End towards the AUC. I would say avoid those areas if I was pressed to say where to stay away from

Another issue I got with Bankhead is just accessibility to basic shyt like grocery stores. When they closed that Giant over by Center Hill it made Bankhead a food desert (meaning a place that doesn't have any grocery stores within several miles of it). I wouldn't want to live in an area that I couldn't easily get food. Junkies still out there in abundance too :wow:

Campbellton is just bad on all ends, which sucks because 30 years ago it used to be semi nice. Had a Red Lobster across from Heritage Homes, multiple car dealerships, businesses, churches, strip plazas. Now :francis:
