Both the DMV and Atlanta are in my tier 1 places to live as a black man. (Lived in DMV, visited ATL numerous times). I'd put Houston and parts of NC in there as well.

I don't want to hear any complaining though unless you live in Tier 3 or below.

One of the biggest differences to me is the DC Metro is walkable/drivable and well to do Black people are in a variety of fields. ATL spread the fukk out and outside of the rap/influencer/entrepreneur bubble it felt like a lot of Black people was doing bad down there.

I love going to other cities but it’s no place like home.

I’m from Atlanta. Lives in DC for a decade. There is nothing like The A. Without a doubt, the most unique city for black people in the country. You can find any type of black person in this city. Educated, bougie, ratchet, scammers, urban, suburban, country, LGBTQ, street, artsy fartsy types, entertainers etc. very diverse group of black people.

You can find all that in DC tho.

Tier 2: Dallas, Houston, Charlotte (all of NC isn’t good for black folk)

Tier 3: LA, Chicago, Philly, Bmore- There is no black identity in LA. Plus it’s expensive. I’m guessing Chicago and Philly are too expensive to live in the good areas. Bmore is on the come up, especially sincr it’s an easy spin-off to DC, Philly, and NY

Other: Memphis, Nashville, etc. I’d lump all other southern cities here bc …you gotta be FROM the south to live in cities like that and enjoy it. You can’t be from the east or west coast and just up n move to places like that
