yo peace my G..you know damn well i spit facts..

Pac read and through the 120..he built with Yorkies too and shut them down !!
but remember he has sunni family members from the wayback..
pac had so many things going on way before september! Black people should hold this brother in our heart!

Yes indeed....when he was in prison according to that article in that TUPAC book Quincy Jones and VIBE put out...PAC said he built with mad five percenters while locked down.......

and I'm pretty sure he seen the correlation between the Moe's...Moors and Bloods while studying the 120

the brother was well versed..i seen a list of his favorite books in a bio by Micheal Dyson and one of his texts was "THE MEANING OF MASONRY" by Worshipful Master W.M William Wilmhurst :damn:

that's one of the illest esoteric works I came across in dealing with the allegory of the "craft" ..also one of my first plus degrees after I completed my 12O

one of my favorite quotes from that book is the explanation of the sciences and the purposes of the mystery schools of Egypt and Greece

"the intent of the mystery system was to transform MAN into a SUPERMAN (GOD)" :whew:

Which explains why PAC was such a sublime thinker :patrice:

V-103 wouldn't even play much rap at all before 6PM. Rap was seen as satan music and not to be played until 6PM with Gregstreet and ATL Club then a 10PM it was the quiet storm.

nah it had nothing to do with Rap being seen as "SATAN MUSIC" .... :comeon:

it was a BUSINESS DECISION....

I know well of this subject...cause when I was studying communications in college I attended many radio seminars sponsored by entities like Billboard and Radio One..so I was well aware of the dynamics of urban radio.

v-103 had been around since the 70's ..it was the only major commercial Urban Contemporary radio station between macon and Chattanooga for years......so it had a large and dedicated listener base..which was mostly upward mobily black profressionals and the newly emerging black middle class

The playlist consisted of traditional black genres like gospel...funk...soul....and even at one point during it's start disco

so they were a strong draw for advertisers as well......they didn't wanna lose that by catering to hip hop which had yet to establish it's marketing value yet......

also keep in mind the program directors of V103 such as Vinny and Tony Brown were heavily influenced by Urban Contempoary icon Frankie Crocker of NYC (WBLS, KISS FM) who was leading a crusade to keep urban radio "traditional" and avoid controversy and attract advertisers by AVOIDING a heavy rap friendly playlist...

but when WHTA (hot 97.5, 107.9) appeared on the scene.....V103 had no choice but to switch to a more rap friendly playlist in order to compete

I used to be connected to several Southern mainstream stations. They seen it as Satan music. Point, Blank, Period.

In '94 when Pac got shot in Times Square there was a strong rumor that he died.. Because the internet wasn't big and there was no social media it actually lingered for days around my school and neighborhood...When he got shot in '96 it was almost like the "Boy Who Called Wolf" syndrome.. I honestly think people didn't believe it for weeks and even months later.. It sounds crazy and naive but we kinda lived in a bubble back then...
Keep in mind the ''alive'' rumors going around the time, more than a few thought he faked it.

I remember Xzibit was on V103 the Monday after and they played a Tupac song..

He said "Tupac? Oh well, he's gone now, no need to worry about him no more"
:heh:

Then he gave a shot out to Nas..

It was before the Don Killumunati album came out so we were confused as hell..

Wow thats disrespectful.. Pac was right when he said "they talk alot of shyt, but thats after I'm gone because they fear me in my physical form" :wow:

And you gotta realize the context of me knowing Xzhibit in 1996.. I had no knowledge of him outside of him mean mugging in the Paparrazi video.. This was way before Pimp My Ride and Eminem and all the other cornball Tom Foolery that he later exposed himself of being part of...I was just thinking that he was a stone cold G that didn't give a fukk about Pac and his fans..

I think it stems from the fact Xzibit was cool with King Tee back then, King Tee almost had a rumble with pac back in the day. Just recently King Tee gave a shout-out to Baby Lane on his last mixtape.

whats this I heard about the game giving baby lane a shout-out? :dead:
the fukk is wrong with dude

As for bytch ass Alvin from New Mexico, he was never considered a real West Coast cat. He was just some hippity hop ass knee grow. When he started wearing the Chucks and blue Dodger hats and hanging with Dre, we were like :rudy:.
Didn't suge get mexicans to cut xzibit face up too, i remember that rumor from back then.

Suge had Alvin scared for his life thanks to Alvin's association with Snoop and Dre. Made him move homes and everything. Yeah, some eses busted Alvin's face with a bottle outside a club, too. Don't know if Suge had anything to do with that though.

Stop with the DUCKTALES. Mr. BIBLE THUMPER :comeon:

If you really worked in Radio like i've had you would know that

Southern Urban Contemporary stations for the most part are NOT BLACK OWNED

Black Commercial Radio has been a oxymoran for decades

V103 for.example has always been owned by white corporate enities like CBS in fact it first started out playing COUNTRY MUSIC before it changed its call letters to V103

So why would a WHITE OWNED RADIO CONGLOMERATE view RAP as "SATANS MUSIC" when we all know at the end of the day its about business..... :mindblown:

I know this for a fact cause i worked for a middle market AM radio station in southeast georgia whicjh happened to be one of the FEW TRULY BLACK OWNED RADIO STATIONS AT THAT TIME along with WBLS in NYC...OUR playlist which was 60% Gospel...20% R&B and 10% Rap and the remaining 10% Talk Shows

Hell we even played FARRAKHAN speeches on sunday nights..even after we were BOUGHT OUT by a white radio metwork... :russ: cause all them CRAKKKERS cared about was $$$ and ratings

and keep in mind this station maintained this format even when the big white corporate radio network took ober just as i got hired to work the weekend nightly mixshow with its lead deejay

and back then during the 80s and early 90s RAP.was still seen as a NOVELTY because radio advertisers had yet to see the large consumer driven fanbase that we have now as evident in all the endorsement deals and marketing plans tofays rap moguls and rappers have accumulated now

Now u have rap all day long....rap radio stations ...cause the bottom line has shown THIER IS A MARKET FOR THIS

So GTFOH with that RAP WAS CONSIDERED SATANs music rhetoric

in the corporate world NOTHING IS SACRED OR OFF LIMITS..if they can find a way TO MAKE MONEY OFF IT

so DONT TALK TO ME ABOUT radio till you understand DEMOGRAPHICS and PPMs... :manny:
