Another trope that annoyed me was he assumed most/all Black men didn't have a good relationship with their father or had no positive male influence around them.

I had a step father but I also had my uncle and grandfather around me to teach me things.

We don't all have this trauma or shared experience. I just get annoyed when people try to convince us as such and that makes me think we need a space where we can talk without trying to pander to others.
A lot of people (black and white) genuinely think that if you grew up with a father, that you did not have an authentic black experience.

I've heard people say thin out their mouths on a couple occasions :why::unimpressed:

Did they call the event brunch?

No offence but someone calling a meal scheduled at 2pm "brunch" would tell me all that I need to know about them.

The word is a combination of breakfast and lunch, meaning it should not be used to describe eating arrangements scheduled after noon.

It is the sort of thing a pretentious coconut would do.

Basically. Im not even sure why they’d expect that type of language/behavior at a large conference. It’s kinda like profanity warnings…you don’t expect to be told out the gate “no profanity” at a large, professional gathering because it (typically) doesn’t need to be said.

This is a good point. At a high caliber event, this, pointing out misogyny or homophobia, doesn’t need to be said.

I think the event may have had some younger high school brehs there though.

that shyt is super annoying. like the only way we and other people can relate to us other is negative tropes and stereotypes that cacs invented.

it's even more annoying when it's supposed to be one of us. you got these blue check wanna be nikkas coming at you like white liberals.

it's almost like "normal" black people don't exist anymore, or we're like a dying breed.

This is because normal black people have no use for them. Their purpose arises out of black dysfunction. No black dysfunction then there is no them.

there's almost no spaces for black men to congregate that doesn't insult us or isn't incredibly c00n infested
there's also in general almost no spaces for normal black people to congregate.
the closest thing are barbershops, sports teams, and professional networtks/affinity groups which Im personally trying to lean in to

Setting boundaries on how to express yourself about manhood.

I'll pass :camby:

We're in a place where even embracing masculinity is frowned upon....and perceived as anti-"whatever".

White women have taken over all our social spaces. They don't even have to be there to inject their bullshyt.
