Another trope that annoyed me was he assumed most/all Black men didn't have a good relationship with their father or had no positive male influence around them.

I had a step father but I also had my uncle and grandfather around me to teach me things.

We don't all have this trauma or shared experience. I just get annoyed when people try to convince us as such and that makes me think we need a space where we can talk without trying to pander to others.

I’m pro gay rights, not homophobic at all. Based on what the OP said it sure seems like you guys were being treated like children. Right out the gate you were told no misogyny or homophobia which to me suggested they anticipated those things to be issues. IE they judged you before you even arrived.
Setting boundaries on how to express yourself about manhood.

I'll pass :camby:

We're in a place where even embracing masculinity is frowned upon....and perceived as anti-"whatever".

if you are invested in a community it seems to defeat the purpose to be all like "i don't like how you did this, f u, ima do my own thing".
when the whole point was to build
a lot of event type things i go to request feedback. maybe you can raise your points and they will improve and actually.... build and connect.
if they don't work on it, then yeah i guess you can leave it

Yo, for real, if there was ever a ColiCon or something of the sort I’m pulling up. Can you imagine that shyt? With special guest speakers “BrothaZay” and “Kamala_Harris” :russ:. Ranging from topics on ‘How to control your PAWG’ to ‘Get bread, broke nikka’ to ‘Is my puppy truly ADOS?’

Basically it was for 100 Black Men to come together

What city was this?

I understand and agree with both but there are many spaces now where ones opinion, especially a Black man's can be misconstrued as bigoted so I thought that was some bullshyt there.

I can understand your point about misogyny, especially when you’re in a male-dominated space with no women around. But with respect to homophobia, why be purposefully offensive to a segment of the black male population that’s in attendance?

Another trope that annoyed me was he assumed most/all Black men didn't have a good relationship with their father or had no positive male influence around them.

Probably selection bias. 100BM is a mentoring organization. Prolly 98% of the young men that they mentor don’t have any positive male influence in their lives.

Other than that, surprised to hear this was a 100BM brunch. Sounds bootleg. 100BM supposed to be high caliber black men.

These are usually organized by liberal type organizations and if the dude who put this together is really in the activist scene like that then he probably had to play nice with those types a lot. Remember, someone paid for the food yall was eating there.

Them not making time for networking was some nut shyt, buddy didnt plan the event out for anything but preaching?
