@The HONORABLE SKJ I mean I never received a royalty check from ASCAP.

THAT is the answer i was looking forYou missed my point about 9 to 5s. I never said being a producer or songwriter is a 9 to 5. I said getting in the music industry can at least lead to regular 9 to 5 in the industry with a label or publishing company. It is like firms that snatch up former politicians or allow their attorneys to run because it gives some type of credibility to potential clients.THAT is the answer i was looking for
i wasnt trying to be rude...u just was losing me with that analogy of being in this music game even as a producer is like a 9 to 5...nah no comparison because most if not all producers get work based on deals and agreements being closes
aint shyt CONSISTENT about selling beats or producing tracks
its based on Relationships and Relevance
and this is why royalties is of importance
cause ASCAP and BMI aint paying out shyt unless u have a steady stream of airplay and usuage
Especially in this digital age...where its been dificult to establish a proper payout for puvlishers..songwriters in regards to streams and downloads...in laymen terms WE ARE BEING FUKKED
thats why producers gotta cover thier a$$es on the back end when it comes to paperwork
so they can expect a CHECK
so as u can see its NOTHING LIKE A 9 TO 5
Everything is ARBITRARY

Yes, go to http://www.ascap.com/expoare there tickets for sale for this event aswell?
I know the difference between producer and beatmaker. I mean like an A&R, Royalty Analyst, IT, something in finance. Those type of 9 to 5 gigs would be easier to attain.Songwriter YES....PRODUCERS. somewhat
But if we talking beatmakers..HELL NAH
Most cats i know and even the hit making ones are jist FREELANCING and SUBCONTRACTING thier services i.e (beat leasing ...placements)
Budgets arent their anymore as in the past...very few producers are getting exclusive deals..and even fewer are hetting in house production deals these days
the game has changed my friend![]()

also keep in mind.....producers are no longer getting placements for LP's anymore..since the Industry is pushing to delete the album format....
most producers/beat makers are basically making tracks for MIXTAPES
So the income potential has been drastically reduced significantly.....
the independent movie that Zaytoven put out call "BIRDS OF A FEATHER" addresses this issue profoundly..i suggest you and every "producer" looking to make a career in this game ...look at this:
I have a degree in Economics. What I am saying is if the music doesn't pop off to sustain a comfortable life then those relationships can at least lead to 9 to 5 position in the music industry.well why waste time in the studio ...just GO TO SCHOOL and get a DEGREE![]()

BOSS! I am a realist but what I am saying those relationships can give one the edge over some random resume. They have been slicing but gotta at least try and I appreciate the encouragement.I feel your passion homie...and trust me I would rather encourage you than discourage you
but you need to realize in this DIGITAL AGE along with the CONSOLODIATION and DOWNSIZING of the industry
those jobs are few and far between.....Universal for example got rid of a gang of A&R's recently
and artist development is no longer a business model that the industry relies on
but you know what....hats off to you and your dream.............good luck
