I've forgotten a lot of great stuff that has happened in WWF/WWE over the past. I just wanna go back and rewatch classic stuff from the glory days. So when would y'all say the Attitude Era officially began?

I actually feel like the attitude era really begun with Diesel's heel turn on Bret. :manny:

49ers..Braves..Celtics
the product was getting edgier by 1996. As said, That's when the SCSA character was born (well he was doing it in ECW and a version of it in WCW but you get the point) and 1996 might have also been where Lawler was calling Goldie a fakkit and all that nonsense..

1997 on the whole was WAY edgier than anything they had done. Hart Foundation took off.. D-X, etc..

I actually went and re watched every RAW from mid 96 to 98.... is the beginning of the era but you see a slow transition, it isnt till march of 97 you see the set change and throughout the year you see the product change from some kiddy shyt and start to jump into the shyt we know as the attitude era.

I always said when McMahon started on commentary to say that the crowd was cheering a heel Austin but he didn't know why plus around that time Bret was pissing and moaning about the crowd loving queers like Goldust and DX...

So to answer your question I would say the night after WrestleMania 13 would be the starting point.

I can watch this a million times.

I've always pointed to the KOTR promo myself. There may be more official beginnings, but I think the rise of Austin was tha catalyst for it all.

Unofficially when Austin beat Jake the Snake and cut the 3:16 promo.

Officially when McMahon cut the promo in 1997.
