Like I've been saying, very few schools athletic departments make money so paying them cost of attendance and possibly for their name, image, likeness, etc. isn't going to be easy by any means.

It will be....

Auburn is in the hole due to coaching staff turnovers in the big 3. I think they owed the baseball coach like 700k, Tony Barbee like 2.5, Chizik and his staff like 10 mil or more....

New basketball arena and amendments to the Stadium as well

No worries.... Probably get a 10 mil donation from the CEO of apple anonymously.....:sas2:

True. I'm sure their alumni/boosters will step up to the plate and open up those wallets. It'll be interesting to see how coaches salaries/buyouts, etc. play a part in this new era of providing student-athletes with unlimited meals and snacks, COA, loss of value insurance, etc. Talking to my colleagues, the common theme seems to be everybody is all in the first year or two, but after that what is going to happen? We'll see.

In other news....

Alabama athletics reports $33 million operating surplus in 2013-14 as football drives huge revenue

Expenses and revenues continue to grow for Alabama athletics, and the school again finished with a surplus in fiscal 2013-14, according to a financial report submitted to the NCAA in January.

According to the documents obtained by AL.com, Alabama's athletics department generated $33,050,145 more than it spent in 2012-13. That's up from the $27.2 million surplus in 2012-13 and continued the trend of surpluses in recent years. It hasn't operated at a loss in the last 10 years, according to documents obtained through public records requests.

The athletics department transferred $9.1 million back to the university last year after contributing $5.9 million a year earlier.

At Auburn, the athletics department operated at a $13.6 million deficit in 2013-14 after losing $865,994 the year before.

The most recent Alabama gains came with a 6.6 percent revenue growth in 2013-14 as football continues to drive the ship. Nick Saban's program had a $53.3 million surplus with revenues of $95.3 million.

The expenses rose by less than a million from 2012-13 but the revenue jumped by nearly $7 million. The biggest football gains came from royalties ($4.5 million from $1.3 million), broadcast, television, radio and Internet rights ($9.1 million from $7.2 million) and contributions ($20.7 million from $18.9 million).

The Alabama men's basketball program had a surplus of $8.2 million in 2013-14 while the women's program had a deficit of $2.3 million. The other sports combined lost a total of $11.3 million and non-program specific expenses out-paced revenues by $23.9 million including money transferred back to the university.

The men's basketball surplus grew to $8.2 million from $5.8 million behind growth from the media rights. Ticket sales dipped to $1.4 million in 2013-14 from $1.84 million the year before. Total revenue for men's basketball was $14.7 million.

:mjlol: At anyone believing these numbers.

Just a ploy for the school and ncaa to say "see we can't pay college athletes we are losing money"

Believe financial numbers from colleges while the ncaa is under fire to compensate athletes breh:mjlol:

Oh you know that's a part of it...Those are "accountant" figures we're looking at here.....
