The issue is there was the perception of Sterling being racist BEFORE this shyt happened. I'm sure Doc and at least a few of the players knew or heard about racist shyt Sterling has done. Bottom line though...pro athletes rarely give a f*ck about the outside shyt. They play for each other and the spirit of competition.
