Did you listen to everything Cuban said? He's taking a pretty rational stance, whether you agree with him or not. Especially as an owner who spent a good deal of time on the NBA's shyt list.

Nothing about his stance suggests he shares any of Sterling's "abhorrent" views or that Sterling has dirt on him.
Kenny said it perfectly, you can be racist but not in every aspect of society. Cuban thinks people can believe what they want and shouldn't be forced out. It's up to the NBA owners to say we don't what people like you here. Just like what happened to the ceo at mozilla, he has the right to be against gay marriage, but mozilla said we don't want you here your bad for business.

And Charles coming off sounding like a lazy, passive fukkboy. One of the most recognizable and beloved personalities in sports and he wanna act like a bytch now. But what should I expect from a black man who was cool posing for a picture in chains.

Stop it. Sterling's gotta go and everybody knows it. The fukk Cuban moving the goal posts talking about "what about homophobia, xenophobia and anti-semetics"?

Cuban came off like a fukking coward. For a guy so outspoken and bold in his statements 99% of the time, it was sad seeing him look so scared and hesitant. Sounded like a dude looking out for his friend. The guy did say he loved Donald in the past :mjplz:

Of course he should be out of the league. But it's not that easy in reality. The NBA taking steps to do so would be precedent setting, obviously, and the future ramifications are impossible to foresee.

It's very difficult to punish someone for their views and beliefs if they aren't backed up by equally evil actions. Sterling has been guilty of these kind of actions in the past and the NBA has always looked the other way.

Unfortunately, I don't think the league has any legal way to permanently get rid of him or strip his team from him. I'd also be surprised if the CBA would allow all the players to be made free agents. They could however all demand trades and refuse to play next season.

BUT, players refusing to sign there, fans abandoning the team and sponsors continuing to pull their support would force him into leaving on his own. Which is what I think will happen in the long-term.

Who is gonna want to get traded there though? I can see the NBA giving the players an option. It is not fair that Doc is gonna dip next year while the players are stuck.

I agree, in theory. I'm not totally familiar with the contract situations on the Clippers roster, but I'd imagine some of them would rather not have their current deals torn up. Maybe give them the option?

But even then, what other circumstances would you allow players to opt-out of their contracts? When the ownership moves the team? When the team decides to tank? When the team makes consistently terrible decisions?

Ideally they could say this is a one-time thing, but I don't know if the CBA would allow for something that drastic.

And Doc can dip, but he'd be retiring. He won't be able to just go coach somewhere else. The players could obviously retire too :manny:

Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander, on the other hand, made it clear in an interview with the Houston Chronicle that he wanted Sterling to be forced out of the league.

Like Cuban, Alexander interpreted the NBA constitution to not allow the commissioner to have the power to remove an owner except for gambling. However, Alexander said he suggested to Silver that all the Clippers players could be given the option to become free agents after this season, a step toward driving Sterling out of the league.

"This kind of behavior can't be allowed in the NBA by owners, players or anybody," Alexander told the paper. "This guy has no place in the family of the NBA. Whatever it takes, we have to make sure this kind of event never happens again."

Jeanie Buss, whose family owns the Clippers' building-mate Los Angeles Lakers, also released a statement on Monday.

"The comments and sentiments expressed on the tape are reprehensible and disturbing, and certainly are the opposite of how the Lakers feel about the league's players and fans. I have full confidence that Adam Silver and the NBA will handle this situation appropriately."

Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert issued perhaps the most strongly worded statement on Monday.

"It is shocking that anyone could hold the kind of offensive and feeble-minded views that are being attributed allegedly to the Clippers owner, Donald Sterling,'' Gilbert said in the statement. "The diverse staff members of the Cleveland Cavaliers franchise are united in encouraging commissioner Silver and the NBA to respond with swift and appropriate action consistent with a strong zero tolerance approach to this type of reprehensible behavior."

Cuban said he would support any decision the commissioner made in regards to disciplining Sterling, but Cuban believes the league constitution will limit that to a fine and suspension. Other owners called for harsh punishment.

"We trust (NBA) commissioner Adam Silver to handle this matter swiftly and properly, but let me state without reservation: There is no place for prejudice or intolerance in our league, or anywhere else," Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores said in a statement. "That's not a debatable point. It's a first principle."

A statement from Portland Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen read, "The kind of statements attributed to Clippers owner Donald Sterling, if true, are abhorrent, and not acceptable for the owner of an NBA franchise or anyone in professional sports. We at the Trail Blazers reject any and all such sentiments, and believe NBA leadership should take swift and impactful action in this case."

So now they FINALLY want to join the party... Could all be a fukking ploy, honestly.

Don't trust none of this shyt no more. Where were they on Saturday? Sunday? They probably just trynna protect those sponsors

And mark Cuban don't want him gone forever.
