Eh...I'm not saying it was because of the change but the show got better after they changed Viv. The tone shifted, it was really annoying in the early seasons.
Kind of the same thing as when Married with Children replaced Steve with Jefferson. Instant improvement.

I completely disagree with that. Steve was great because he was completely different from Al, yet on occasion they would still connect because of man stuff. I always felt Jefferson (who was great in the beginning) led in the downfall of the show where every character had to become a 'funny' character). The reason Steve was so great (and Marcy was better in earlier seasons) was because they weren't intended as comedic characters, but instead be straight arrows and act as foils for the Bundy family.

Nah I've been watching the show on Crackle. It's all early episodes they have from the first few seasons and frankly, a lot of them are wack. Steve's stuff in particular falls flat a lot of the time (he's definitely not simply a straight man, most of his lines are jokes too...just not very effective ones) and the whole tone of the show was not really the Married w/ Children everyone remembers and loves. There's food in the Bundy's fridge. They occasionally show concern for each other's well being. No scenes of Al insulting fat women in the shoe store. There's no NO MA'AM.
These are all beloved staples and they didn't come into the fold until the show hit its stride around the time Jefferson was introduced.

U think that was the reason?..lol..how much work did she get AFTER that show fam?..EVERYONE on that show got along and NOONE had a problem with Will but her...the thing is..she felt she was a better actor..was more experienced..older and that Will didnt deserve his own show...so she didnt like him...anyone who did the show says the same thing about her..she was mean as fukk and difficult to work with..while they all were like family...Will didnt fire her..she was acting so mean to everyone ESPECIALLY when she got pregnant cause she was really pregnant in real life and she was goin thru a divorce so she was just shyttin on everybody..the producers was gonna cut her lines because of how she was treating everyone..she got mad and bounced...
