The problem with what she's said is that she conveniently left out the role that white supremacy plays in what images get perpetuated and held up as the standard for how black people should act. There's "ghetto" people of all races but ignorant acting blacks have historically been propped up to uphold/perpetuate a stereotype and justify oppression of blacks as a whole. Nene is successful because she has crossed over. She's gone from an local Atlanta social rat to starring on Broadway. You can't even say that's mainly due to black people. Nene represents the type of black woman's that white america is comfy with. If Hubert wasn't going to have the courage to make that point to whites then she shouldn't have said anything .
