I think it was pretty obvious Regal was talking about how his perception of the match changed once he talk to Ricky. Why? Well, because Savage liked to prepared for his matches very carefully. In the case of the Mania III match, it's kinda of a known fact that the Savage vs Steamboat match was pre planed almost move for move. So when Regal says his perception changed, he's talking about how the awesomeness of that match didn't come from 2 talented guys calling it in the ring, but 2 guys thinking very hard about what they were going to do weeks in advance.
For guys like Regal and Austin, being spontaneous is key to work a match. So knowing such a masterpiece wasn't done almost "on the fly", takes away from their enjoyment.
That wouldn't explain why, when it was mentioned, they both suddenly started talking in nervous/hushed tones on some "We shouldn't be talking about this

Even C____ B_____ isn't stricken from the historical record on Austin's podcast, so whatever this was, it felt like there was a lot more to it than just "Savage didn't prefer to call it in the ring".
