nikka this is beyond maps.
I remember watching documentaries on Australia. I read books.
It was always isolated from the rest of the world. It was an island continent by itself at the bottom of the world.
Once again this isn't just about the map. Its literally about what I've learned for years. Australia was simply never anywhere close to Papua New Guinea. That is as visceral a truth to me as a traffic light going from red to yellow to green.
Being told Australia is right below Papua New Guinea is the equivalent of being told traffic lights go from to green to yellow to red. Its that much of a mindfukk to my consciousness.
