Man most of you just don't live in the real world. Or it's just "pigs coulda deescalated" hurr durr shyt. shyt sucks because more than a good chunk are racist and look to do this shyt

But you cannot whether you are in the right frame of mind or not, walk towards police with a weapon in your hand. You are asking to get turned into swiss cheese. Just like the Georgetown girl that sliced the officer, yall were sitting here talking about he should've tased and deescalated her. Anything that happens to you after walking towards them brandishing a weapon is police discretion, you can get one that'll let you live long enough to slice them after trying to deescalate like she did or you get something like this

The parents didn't call 911, but when you do you will be asked if it's a psychiatric call, the mental status of the person and if they're aggressive. Depending on what they're told is how police show up. There were that many on scene to begin with because the person told 911 he was a threat, if they're not a threat to anyone the response is lower and EMS is staging a couple blocks away waiting for the scene to be secured. They get on scene, he was told to drop the knife before he ever stood up, he starts walking towards them fence or not...yeah that's going to happen

Yes it's unfortunate he was having a crisis, yes some police look to kill, but a lot of y'all just don't even know what you're talking about.

why did the police rush towards him gun drawn when there was no urgency(no one was in harms way)? there was a fence seperating them and he didn't seem physically fit enough to jump over it, so this seems like this could have been handled by some social workers instead of the death squad that was sent over.
Yep if they just had to do something they could have tazed or mased him. I feel for families in situations such as this because who can you call when your loved one is in crisis but are scared to call the cops:francis:

If the family was trying to wrestle the knife away from the kid, they clearly weren’t successful.

He obviously was not supposed to have the knife hence their effort to take it away. The commotion spilled outside the home forcing neighbors to choose between “minding their business” or calling the cops. If I see someone outside with a knife and people trying to take it from them I’m calling the police, point blank period. Two WOMEN at that.

Sadly, a lot of families cannot handle a mentally ill person once they make the decision to act out. We’ve seen this time and time again especially with young men.

12 shots was definitely crazy but from 4 officers that’s maybe 3-4 per cop. But remember, the immediate danger was for the two women in the yard and the man close to the fence, not the officers.

Sad situation all around.

So cops are mindless drones. They’re too dumb to properly assess a situation and calculate risk in real time so they go off whatever information was shared with them on their radios.
