Thriller is a genre of literature, film, videogame stories and television programming that uses suspense, tension, and excitement as its main elements.[1] Thrillers heavily stimulate the viewer's moods, giving them a high level of anticipation, ultra-heightened expectation, uncertainty, surprise, anxiety and terror. Films of this genre tend to be adrenaline-rushing, gritty, rousing and fast-paced.[2][3]

Literary devices such as red herrings, plot twists, and cliffhangers are used extensively. A thriller is usually a villain-driven plot, whereby he or she presents obstacles that the protagonist must overcome.

Another common subgenre of thriller is the spy genre which deals with fictional espionage. Successful examples of thrillers are the films of Alfred Hitchcock. The horror and action genres often overlap with the thriller. Thrillers tend to be psychological, threatening, mysterious and at times involve larger-scale villainy such as espionage, terrorism and conspiracy.[5]

Yeah, totally off the mark :francis:

Y'all never seen North by Northwest? The Bourne series? Any of the movies based on Tom Clancy books?

Yes, yes, all of them except Shadow Recruit

I'm agreeing with you BTW. For some reason, you're not allowed to use the "T" word when discussing this movie here

Ava DuVernay Passes On Marvel's BLACK PANTHER; "We Couldn't See Eye To Eye"

Confirming it was Black Panther (and not Captain Marvel) that she was in contention for, Ava DuVernay has revealed that she and the studio will not be collaborating on the project. Check it out!

Ever since Ava DuVernay was revealed to be in talks with Marvel Studios to potentially helm the long-awaited Black Panther adaptation, the Selma director has become the ideal candidate; and there were even rumors the she was in final negotiations. However, the filmmaker herself has unfortunately confirmed to Essence that those "talks" with the studio have since fallen through.

“I guess I'll declare my independence from this rumor on 4th of July weekend and Essence weekend!” said DuVernay. “I'm not signing on to direct Black Panther. I think I’ll just say we had different ideas about what the story would be. Marvel has a certain way of doing things and I think they’re fantastic and a lot of people love what they do. I loved that they reached out to me.”

DuVernay also confirmed meeting with the star of the Black Panther movie, Chadwick Boseman, who is currently filming for the character's cinematic debut in Captain America: Civil War. “I loved meeting Chadwick and writers and all the Marvel execs,”she said. “In the end, it comes down to story and perspective. And we just didn't see eye to eye. Better for me to realize that now than cite creative differences later.” Not to mention the Ant-Man split between Marvel and former director Edgar Wright. Despite not signing on to helm Black Panther, DuVernay says she's still in support of the movie. “I love the character of Black Panther, the nation of Wakanda and all that that could be visually. I wish them well and will be first in line to see it," she said. What do you think?

I wonder what exactly was the point of contention between her and Marvel regarding the story. :sas2:

Gee, who didn't see that coming? What she's saying is no different from what Alan Taylor just said and she seems to have a bit more balls than he does so this isn't a surprise at all.

While that would have been a good look for both parties and I'm disappointed, she played that perfect PR wise. Hopefully she gets a big budget opportunity she is comfortable in going forward.

Oh, and just because I like to instigate like my avatar @Prodigal Syndicate:sas2:
Don't worry fellow marvel fans, theyve moved on to better directors. They will either hire david nutter or rodman flender. After they watched idle hands they knew they could trust rodman with warming the directors seat as the crew films the producers story boarded green screen action.

Seriously though this was just pure publicity for marvel. They had no real desire to hire her or any other director with any type of vision.

Now they can say hey we tried :troll: and hire some bum who cant get work and needs a paycheck.

I think they had a real interest in her but again, like most people on this board said, she wasn't going to bend and have her voice squelched...so if any of us could see this coming, then obviously smarter people saw it coming

The only interest they had was having her name for publicity and authenticity. They had no interest in working with her or changing what they want for her or any director. I'm sure they have "interest" in lots of directors. That is, if the director does everything their told, bends to their will completely and doesnt try to change anything.

After all it cant be a factory if one of the cogs acts differently :francis:

Which I might agree with if Edgar Wright, Joss Whedon, and even Kenneth Branngah hadn't said the same things or demonstrated the same things.
