All good points but why would marvel let him do what he wants when they don't let anyone else do what they want entirely?

I don't think Fuqua would ever be picked just because I don't think he would acquiesce to Marvel's control on every aspect of making the movie.

Yeah he's the showrunner and your job as the director is to mend what he wants as the showrunner and what you want as a director. If the visions don't match up, then problems happen. That's not a bad formula it just takes the right people to fit inside of the formula. But what it might do is hinder you creatively as the director. Not in all cases but in some it may and you have to be okay with that

I think one of the main reasons Marvel's formula still works right now because they are the only studio that has been doing the shared universe thing up to this point. They have had the entire field to themselves. If DC manages to defy expectation, crush buildings and offer something fresh and different when they step in the game next year, it might pressure Marvel to change how they approach and do their films late phase 3 and onward.

not really. DC can offer an alternative, and they're advantage will be they have more established and well known characters. but marvel's foothold will always be there because they are something you can take the kids to, its a family event at the minimum.

Eh as long as the movie is good and there's action kids don't care about these movies being too dark they make way too much money for that to be true.
