as an aside in comics the power of an enchantment is maxed out by the power of the one who did it.

ie. the power level so dr. strange cannot override beings that are far more powerful than him like eternity, mephisto.

example comics:

• In Doctor Strange: Damnation, Doctor Strange seals away demonic forces in Las Vegas using powerful magic. Mephisto interferes with his plans, manipulating reality and undermining Strange’s magical wards. Here, Mephisto’s higher-level, reality-warping powers override Strange’s spells, effectively breaking the enchantments.

otherwise dr. strange could defeat anyone by wiping their memory.
