How is Walmart generating revenue from the citations?
There was a YouTube video on this woman's case who won a lawsuit against them. Can't remember which video. But they we're suing people or sending some kind of collection service after them for theft. That's why she won millions in court for being falsely accused of shop lifting.

Found it.

You see how it’s placing more burden on the customer. You going to keep track of all your receipts and remember to even get one each time?
Keep track of all your receipts? You need one receipt when using self checkout, and once you leave the store it’s over

Read the article the 3rd case was them going back and accusing anyone who bought some product that was missing of stealing it.

Umm... wouldn't you have the receipt to prove that you paid for your items?
You would, but how many people under 70 are holding on to receipts from weeks ago for routine purchases or items they have no intention of possibly returning?? It would be different if you were gonna be accused the day of, but apparently these are people getting accused weeks and months later.

Nah, it’s not over lol, that’s the point. They’re bringing this suit up well after you’ve left the store.

Some of y'all gonna get hemmed up using self-checkout at Walmart. That's why I refuse to shop there. The store could be packed and they'll have like 2 cashier's up front total.

Link me to an actual case of someone being accused of shoplifting groceries months later by a market and not some viral bs story :dead: once you leave the premises after self checkout it’s end of discussion. The store would get laughed out of court for saying someone didn’t scan an Xbox game months after the fact

Personally, I shouldn't use self check out out of principle, but sometimes I don't feel like waiting in a long ass line...

Usually, there is an employee in the area directing customers and watching customers plus like a poster has stated, a receipt is printed after purchase, so...

I see no issue.

Lastly, if I purchase a big ticket item, I will go to a cashier.

I have worked as a security guard before albeit in the UK the stores and police don’t do shyt about regular shoplifters unless you have 100% concrete evidence.

It’s just a game of cat and mouse to prevent theft by being a deterrent. The regular shop lifters will return to the store even after being banned because new guards come all the time that don’t recognise them. Even if the security gates go off and the “customer” has forgotten the receipt we can’t assume they have stolen we have to let them go if we didn’t see them not pay unless its obvious a masked guy has 5 TVs in a cart even then that’s not technically following procedure there are steps that have to be followed. But I didn’t follow procedure :lolbron:

It is very easy to lose someone on cctv with these shytty cameras and blindspots in these huge stores.

I don’t know how it is in the US but you can’t tackle someone to the ground based on a whim.
